Sometimes I feel like sharing an opinion about something that isn't a book or a movie. I'm aware that this is a sickness and I'm working to cut back, but in the meantime, here's this.

Various Homemade Popsicles
My girlfriend bought a silicone popsicle mold a while ago, so I’ve been investing a couple ounces of every beverage I buy to see if it's any good frozen. Here are some of my findings.
- Peach BodyArmor: Something wack happened to this one and all the citric acid got pushed to the outside when it froze. Punishingly tart outer layer and then just a hunk of plain ice. Not good.
- Arizona Kiwi-Strawberry: Not bad, but a little too watery to achieve that popsicle texture; also made mostly a hunk of plain ice.
- Dr. Pepper: You don't realize how crucial carbonation is to the Dr. Pepper experience until you have it solid. Okay but comes out tasting like a different soda.
- Yellow Edition Red Bull: Very promising. Freezes nicely but comes out with a mild bitter aftertaste. I think mixing in some juice could take this one over the bar.
- Arizona Whipped Pineapple-Orange: I was concerned about what the dairy content might do but this came out pretty good. Not fully in sorbet territory but less toothsome than many of its peers.
- Turner’s Tea & Lemonade: Again, the flavor carries over pretty well but it's not concentrated enough to freeze up soft. I wonder if reducing these over heat before freezing would help but I acknowledge that simmering an Arnold Palmer on the stove is an insane thing to be doing.
- Mountain Dew Baja Blast: This does have enough sugar in it to freeze soft; not quite like a store-bought ‘sicle but comfortably biteable. Pretty good.
The ones in that photo are a dairyless pineapple-orange juice and a Minute Maid blue raspberry punch. I’ll update here once I try them. I also think a Thai iced tea popsicle could be really good but I’m out of milk right now.

Sudachi Lime Red Bull
Walked into my usual corner store today and there was a ton of this, even though he’s usually the last place to get a new flavor. It’s good, if a little one-note. Doesn’t quite live up to my (probably overblown) recollection of the original silver lime flavor from ten years ago, but well-balanced and very sippable. Seven out of ten.
